Guinness World Records Names Call of Duty as Best Ever Game Series

In news that might upset people, the Guinness World Records has named Activision’s mega-shooter Call of Duty as the best ever gaming series. Yep, you read that right; the military shooter managed to beat the likes of Halo, Grand Theft Auto and more to claim the crown.

The top ten gaming franchises are:

  • Call of Duty
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Minecraft
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Halo
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • FIFA
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Battlefield
  • The Elder Scrolls

This announcement was revealed in the Guinness World Records 2015 Gamers’ Edition where “More than 5,000 fans of the book from 140 countries across the world took to an online poll to vote for their favourite games, and the top 50 record-breaking games were featured in the book,” says Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday.

In other gaming-related records, Far Cry 4 has also entered the record books as the “highest” console gameplay in history.

Do you agree with Guinness’ findings? What would the best ever gaming franchise be for you?
