No Man’s Sky Was UK’s Best-Selling Game in August

According to GfK data (which tracks physical boxed sales), Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky saved the month of August and went on to become UK’s best-selling game of the month. While exact details won’t become available until next week, we’ve learned from MCV that it beat rival F1 2016 by 100,000 units.

As a result, Sony ended up becoming the most successful publisher of the month in terms of sales and revenue, followed by Nintendo. According to the publication, 3DS games continue their strong performance through the summer.

Overall, game sales in August were down 1.2 percent year-on-year. However, revenue is up by almost 25 percent.

Another notable AAA release during the month, and one with the most positive reception, was Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. However, it released towards the end of the month on August 23 so it remains to be seen how well it performs.

We’ll update our readers when the data becomes available.
