Watch Usain Bolt Hit the Football Field in PES 2018

Those that pre-order Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 will get to use Jamaican running legend Usain Bolt in the football sim. As one would expect, he’ll be the fastest character in the game. Konami just released a new video showing off what a day in the life of Usain Bolt is like. The two minute trailer is a fun watch, and features gameplay footage.

Another area where the game is seeing a major redesign is in terms of user interface. The menus, which never looked quite as clean as Electronic Arts’ sports titles, are getting all redone. I didn’t get to check this out in a finished state, as the work is still being done, but it’s certainly something to look out for come September. What I did get to see was that athlete portraits have been added for licensed players, so players won’t have to stare at headshots of the in-game models.

Konami isn’t content with Pro Evolution Soccer merely being great. They’re looking to make PES into a FIFA competitor, and to do that they’ll have to offer up a number of great modes. They seem to be on the right track, even if topping FIFA will take years if not decades to do, and fans will ultimately be the victors of both franchises being competitive.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 is set to release September 14 for PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and last-gen consoles.
