Square Enix & Obsidian Announce Dungeon Siege 3 For Consoles

Dungeon Siege looks to be getting a new iteration which is to be published by Square Enix. Obsidian – developer of the moment –  has been handed the franchise to top what they’re already developing which includes the likes of Fallout: New Vegas as well as the recently released Alpha Protocol. This collaboration will be the console debut for RPG series.

Under the supervision of Gas Powered Games who originally developed the franchise, Dungeon Siege 3 will retain “the best features” of past series entries, while introducing a co-op mode with support for up to four players. The new game will take place in “an immersive world where every decision you make has a consequence combining intuitive action gameplay with the traditional RPG elements.

This new announcement is the beginning of Square Enix working more with western developers,

It Is an Honor and a pleasure to Be part of the legend of Dungeon Siege,”

This partnership with Square Enix is a milestone for the franchise and Obsidian, and the qualities of two companies in terms of scenario will be visible throughout the game.” Said Obsidian boss, Feargus Urquhart.

Obsidian must feel like a Hollywood star at the moment, with publishers knocking at their door.
