UFC Undisputed 2010 Making PSPs Submit Next Month

UFC Undisputed 2010, the follow-up game to last year’s incredibly impressive, over 3 million-unit selling mixed martial arts fighter, put consoles into a choke hold upon its release in May. Although THQ’s second installment in the franchise hasn’t yet quite lived up to its expectations, the publishers will be looking to improve on that as UFC Undisputed 2010 will still be releasing on the PlayStation Portable next month.

Although fans knew a portable version of UFC Undisputed 2010 would be on the horizon for Sony’s handheld device after the game’s console release, THQ has again re-iterated the title will be choke holding the PSP. It’ll be fighting its way to a September 7th release, which was today confirmed by the publishers.

The PSP version of UFC Undisputed 2010 will retain “all the action, intensity and prestige of the Ultimate Fighting Championship with intelligent and intuitive combat, fighter customization, robust career progression, challenging gameplay modes” from its console counterpart version. An “explosive ad-hoc wireless play” will also be included in the portable version of the fighter.

THQ core games VP, Danny Bilson, commented on the news today of UFC Undisputed 2010 arriving onto the PSP next month. Bilson stated:

“UFC Undisputed 2010 raised the bar for sports games earlier this year with an impressive feature set and unbeatable gameplay experience on high-definition console gaming platforms. We believe this franchise has the ability to flourish in a handheld format and look forward to delivering the game this fall for the PSP system.”

UFC boss, Dana White, also delivered her thoughts on the game makings its way to the PSP:

“The UFC Undisputed franchise has made an incredible impression on videogame and fight fans around the world over the past two years. UFC Undisputed 2010 for the PSP system will, without question, be a must-purchase for anyone who wants to experience the action, authenticity and intensity of the UFC inside the virtual Octagon in a format they can take with them anywhere.”

What remains to be an interesting discussion point is, undoubtedly, how THQ in-cooperate the game’s control scheme into the PlayStation Portable.
