PSN Publisher Fund Promoting Quality Games

Sony first introduced the “Pub Fund” at the Game Developers Conference of 2009, and ever since, PlayStation Network users have experienced a variety of independently produced games such as Burn Zombie Burn, Flower, and most recently Joe Danger. While corporate-backed games like Tales of Monkey Island and Peggle shine on the PlayStation Store, consultants at Beefy Media believe the PSN has an advantage over the competition.

According to the founder of Beefy Media, the PlayStation Network and its publisher fund supporting independent developers provides the service “higher quality” titles.

“I think Sony right now, if they continue to focus on the indie stuff, more of the Joe Dangers of the world, and the Pub Fund really comes up with some more great content then they could be the ones having more content pumped out that’s higher quality.”

The consultant goes on to say that “it’s really up to the platform owners to find the best stuff” to put on the store. With a slew of top-notch, innovative titles like the PixelJunk series a titles by thatgamecompany, it’s safe to say that Sony has their best foot forward for their platform.
