Stranger’s Wrath Oddities Get Extra Effort

The Oddworld series is well known in the gaming universe for its unique characters, great puzzles, dire situations, and its, well, oddities. The zany series started on PlayStation and Windows with its two first entries, but in a jarring move to console fans of the series, the next two original titles – Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath – were released for Xbox and Windows. As a result many, players didn’t get a chance to continue their journey through Oddworld, which was disappointing to say the least. Developer Just Add Water recently announced that they were remaking Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath for release on PSN, giving PlayStation fans their first taste of the game. Now they’ve decided to show off what they’re doing for the remake of the game, and it looks incredible.

Of course, to update the game in HD, the team is revamping textures, audio, and the gaming interface, but they’re also taking it a step further.  Just Add Water is completely overhauling all the character models in the game, giving them more polygons, new textures, and just overall sprucing up their appearance. The difference is staggering, and you can see it in the images below:

The update to these models really is just incredible, and does a great job of showing what Just Add Water is doing to bring us a quality game.  Stranger’s Wrath is an action-adventure game where you play as the Stranger, a bounty hunter who is trying to earn enough money to get a mysterious life saving operation. The game departs from former puzzling focused gameplay, in favor of battling enemies with live ammunition, such as our Chippunk friend pictured above. No release date has been set yet, but rest assured we’ll keep you updated since we’re looking forward to getting our hands on this fun filled oddity.
