Bulletstorm Started Life A Bit Different

Bulletstorm is poised to take the FPS genre to a whole new level when it releases next month. Instead of the typical run-of-the-mill FPS, Bulletstorm offers a unique point system that rewards creative kills — you can just run around shooting everyone in the head, but hit him with a sticky grenade and kick him across the map and now we’re talking. That being said, Bulletstorm started life quite differently.

In an interview with OXM, Bulletstorm’s Producer, Tanya Jessen, talked about how Bulletstorm started out as a third-person cover-based shooter.

It was cover-based. So it went from a third person shooter to a cover based first-person shooter to a non-cover based first-person shooter

….we felt the core of Bulletstorm is the face of the enemy and the player figuring out what to do. So in that case cover-based combat didn’t really work so well.

Get your hands on Bulletstorm when it releases on February 22nd.
