A New PSP Will Cost You A Pretty Centavo in Brazil

Brazil is no stranger to expensive gaming consoles. When the PlayStation 3 officially launched there last year, its asking price was R$1999, or roughly $1,130 USD at then-current exchange rates. The PlayStation Portable has finally also officially launched, and it too will likely induce sticker shock to those tempted to purchase it.

Dubbed the PSP System 3010, it appears to be a localized version of our beloved handheld. As can be seen on Sony Style‘s Brazilian website, the console costs R$1299, or approximately $776 USD. While people can import the handheld from other countries, those are not officially supported by Sony and by law can only come with a 3-month warranty. So it appears the people of Brazil finally have a form of every PlayStation console that they can purchase locally.
