Capcom Reveals GEM System for Street Fighter X Tekken, Pre-Order Bonuses, Screenshots

Capcom has revealed the new GEM system for their upcoming fighter, Street Fighter X Tekken. The system will provide depth and new levels of customization for players who are looking for more strategy in their fighting game experience.

The game has a total of 57 GEMs (5 Assist and 52 Boost). Each fighter can equip up to three GEMs and GEM effects stack on top of each other. Assist GEMs provide benefits, but also have a disadvantage. Boost GEMs provide a stat increase in one of these areas: attack, defense, speed, cross gauge, or vitality. However, a specific condition must be met before the bonus will activate. GEMs are assigned prior to a match and as a result, Boost GEM conditions are hidden from opponents.

Capcom has released a chart containing all of the GEMs and their effects which is based on the most up-to-date information they have. However, Capcom notes that some will undergo minor adjustments prior to the game’s final version.

Also, GEMs will be made available as pre-order bonus packs: GameStop consumers will receive “The World Warrior” GEM pack, Amazon.com consumers will receive the “Iron Curtain” pack, Best Buy consumers will receive the “Lightning Legs” pack, and the SFXT Special Edition will come with both a “King of Iron Fist” and a “Cross Arts” pack (which, combined, is 27 gems).
