With The Last Guardian having been delayed repeatedly, and Fumito Ueda now working on a contract basis, the game looked in a bad way. A new rumor from GameStop suggested the game was in an even worse shape and had been completely canceled, but thankfully it hasn’t.
US mega-retailer GameStop has begun calling consumers who have preordered The Last Guardian saying that management has informed them production on the game has ceased. Reports across the web show dozens of people getting the sad phone call, and one user even recorded the message.
Patrick Seybold, Sony’s senior director of corporate communications, has come forward with a brief and simple statement: “This is not true.” So, whatever else you read on the web, bear in mind it seems to have originated from some confusion at GameStop, rather than SCEJ announcing a cancellation.
