Resident Evil 6 Not Specifically Inspired by any Particular Resident Evil Title

The moment the Resident Evil 6 debut trailer hit the web, everyone began comparing the footage to earlier entries in the series, namely the fourth and fifth installments. Capcom wants people to stop making comparisons, as they claim that this latest Resident Evil title doesn’t draw from any particular game in the series.

Speaking to IGN, Resident Evil 6 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explained:

We have a ton of respect for the past RE games. The ways in which they were each able to provide unique experiences is incredibly important. With RE6 we hope to create an even greater game than the previous entries in the series. That being said, we are not focusing on any previous title in particular.

What we can say though, is that we do consider the things we have learned from previous RE games to be really beneficial as we make this new title.

With regard to the game starring both Leon and Chris, Hirabayashi went on to express his excitement for having both as protagonists.

We’re really happy to finally bring Chris and Leon together for RE6. Did everyone out there enjoy their scenes in the trailer? We are putting a lot of focus on the story in this game, and that is one reason why both of them will appear in this game. There are a lot of characters still to be announced, so we hope everyone will look forward to finding out about them and how they fit into the story.

Resident Evil 6 is set to launch on November 20th for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
