Resident Evil Veronica HUNK

Resident Evil Veronica Will Only Have 1 Camera Option Unlike Trailer

Last week, Capcom pulled back the curtain and formally announced that Resident Evil Veronica is currently in development, confirming fan speculation that the publisher would be remaking the oft-overlooked entry in the series.

While the reveal trailer didn’t show off any gameplay, the way it was shot and framed left some fans wondering: what kind of camera mode would the final game end up using? While the original Resident Evil: Code Veronica was strictly a third-person experience, recent entries in the series have opted for first-person gameplay, and the aforementioned reveal trailer was presented from first-person view.

Well, we can now put any speculation to rest: Resident Evil Veronica will only make use of a third-person camera and won’t include any option to switch to a first-person view. During a Q&A session during Summer Game Fest 2026, series producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that the remake would stick with the third-person view from the original release.

“The reveal trailer does have some parts in first-person,” Hirabayashi-san confirmed. “But we wanted to surprise and delight players. We made that special reveal trailer have some first-person sections.”

That being said, while Resident Evil Veronica won’t be completely overhauling the original, it will feature plenty of modern polish and mechanics. Hirabayashi likened the relationship between Veronica and Code Veronica to that of the Resident Evil 2 Remake and the original.

Thankfully, you won’t have to wait (too) long to experience this long-awaited remake for yourself. Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled to release in 2027.
