Ready at Dawn Discusses Future Plans, Steering Clear of God of War Vita

Ready at Dawn, the development team behind both God of War PSP titles hasn’t done a whole lot to make a name for itself outside of Sony’s exclusive franchise. The studio’s co-founder and CEO Ru Weerasuriya aims to remedy this by expanding beyond this series and the handheld gaming market.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, Weerasuriya made it clear that a lot of changes are taking place at Ready at Dawn and big things are in the store team as they move forward with a new IP and focus on next-gen tech.

When it came to really decide what we wanted to do next, I think most of the guys internally just wanted to do something that, in some ways, we had built this company for. It’s taken us time to get there and we’ve wanted to do new IP, we’ve been working on it for a while, and we felt the time was right and it was just the perfect alignment of everything that was happening.

He also went on to confirm that they will not be doing a God of War title for the Vita any time soon, admitting that it’s a pretty tempting option nonetheless.

It’s an idea that was floated as far as what could happen on the Vita. And especially with a platform like that, we were enticed I think by the prospect of doing something on that platform, but it just didn’t align with what we wanted.
