Capcom has announced the Ur-Dragon Event Mode for Dragon’s Dogma, which is a very difficult enemy encounter that can be taken on alone or with friends online.
The Ur-Dragon is an “immensely powerful” dragon enemy that appears in the Everfall beneath Gran Soren. Players from around the world and their parties of Pawns can compete collectively online in an asynchronous encounter via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live to take it on. The effect of each party’s attacks will be combined, but the dragon is said to be so powerful that finally beating the beast will require multiple encounters. The player who issues the final blow to Ur-Dragon will receive the maximum reward, but all players who inflict damage to it can still obtain both rare and common items dropped by the beast.
Players who don’t have an Internet connection can take on the dragon alone, but the rewards will be different than the ones received by players who play online.
All players who beat the Ur-Dragon will have their names and times placed in a hall of fame for other players to see and try to beat.
The Ur-Dragon Event will be available when Dragon’s Dogma releases on May 22nd in North America for PS3 and Xbox 360.
