PSone Classics Coming to Vita With v1.8 Firmware Update

Sony assured us back at E3 that PSone Classics support would be coming to the Vita sometime this summer, and it looks like the upcoming firmware version 1.8 update will be the one to bring the functionality.

According to a report from Andriasang, firmware v1.8 will allow you to play original PlayStation Classic titles on your Vita within the next few months. Unfortunately, no specific date has been confirmed for the launch of the firmware.

For all of you that are eagerly anticipating this functionality, let us know in the comments below which PSone game you are most looking forward to playing on the Vita’s gorgeous OLED screen. I don’t know about you, but I could really go for some Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy VIII.

Also, be sure to read up on our feature detailing the PSone games we’re still patiently waiting for Sony to bring to the PlayStation Store.
