Namco Revises Statement Regarding an “Easy Mode” for Dark Souls

Earlier this week, Dark Souls game director Hidetaka Miyazak issued a statement regarding his displeasure in the fact that so few gamers are actually able to complete Dark Souls thanks to its brutal difficulty.

Thanks to some iffy translation, Namco claims that his words were taken out of context, as there’s no plan to add an easy mode. The original statement read as follows: “I am thinking about whether I should prepare another difficulty that everyone can complete or carefully send all gamers the messages behind our difficult games.”

The revised statement however says something much different: “This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about how to make everyone complete the game while maintaining the current difficulty and carefully send all gamers the messages behind it.”

It is still rather unclear exactly what Namco plans to do about the low level of completion among Dark Souls players. To stay updated on the future of FromSoftware’s excruciatingly difficult title, stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle.
