Levine on BioShock Infinite’s Ending: “It’s Like Nothing You’ve Actually Experienced in a Video Game Before”

Irrational Games’ Ken Levine recently discussed the story of BioShock Infinite, noting that it has a crazy ending that will almost certainly stir up a whirlwind of discussion among gamers.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Levine teased:

The plot actually gets more interesting as it goes on. The end of the game, I can’t tell whether people will like it or not like it. I can say it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. It’s like nothing you’ve actually experienced in a video game before. It’s unique and quite particular to this world, these characters and this franchise.

With regard to the relatively weak third chapter of the original BioShock, which felt like a bit of a drag for most gamers, Levine went on to emphasize that Infinite won’t fall victim to the same issue. “You had a situation there where you had this amazing character and once he’s gone the story loses some of its steam. That is something we took to heart in this game,” he said.

It’s going to be a long and difficult three months of waiting until BioShock Infinite’s release this coming March.
