New Batman: Arkham Title Launching This Year, Rocksteady May not be the Developers

In a recent earnings call, John K. Martin, CFO and Chief Administrative Officer at Time Warner, made it known that a new Batman: Arkham game is in the works, scheduled to release in 2013:

[…]We also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.

The latest rumor regarding the Arkham franchise was that Rocksteady is working on a new title based off the Silver Age of DC Comics. Whether or not that rumor was false and Rocksteady is instead working on this new game remains to be seen, but if VG247 sources are to be believed, Rocksteady is not behind this year’s Batman.

On that note, Superannuation found a LinkedIn page for Ketan Lad, who lists that he is currently working as a Senior Level Artist on an unannounced PS3/Xbox 360 title at Warner Bros. Games Montreal.

Going even further, Ben Mattes, Senior Producer at WB Games Montreal, sent out this tweet last week:

In just 2-3 months, our project will be announced (in grand fashion) and it’s going to be big! As we dive head-first into our polish period…

While the title at WB Games Montreal could be something completely unrelated to the new Arkham, it looks like we’ll only have to wait a few months to find out about their unannounced game.

What do you think the new Batman will be called? Batman: Arkham City 2? Batman: Arkham State? Batman: Arkham Tri-State Area? Let us know in the comments below.
