Kojima to be at GDC, Showing off Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and FOX Engine

The Game Developers’ Conference 2013 is set to run from March 25th – 29th, with many different events and presentations happening within those few days. One of the more interesting ones currently scheduled for GDC is something from Kojima Productions, titled ‘Photorealism Through the Eyes of a FOX: The Core of Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes‘.

If this has you intrigued, the official GDC description offers up some further details about what we can expect:

Join Hideo Kojima and the Kojima Productions staff as they demonstrate and explain the workflow and development process of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes on the Fox Engine. This session will mainly cover the key components and unique methods Kojima Productions utilizes in the graphics arena to create visuals seen in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Participants can expect an overview of topics such as asset creation and rendering techniques used in the next Metal Gear Solid. Enjoy the session as Kojima Productions unveils the FOX Engine for the first time.

Speakers expected to be a part of this include Hideo Kojima, Hideki Sasaki (CG Art Director of Ground Zeroes), Masayuki Suzuki (Lighting Artist on Ground Zeroes), and Junji Tago (Lead for development of the Fox Engine).

Hopefully we’ll see some Ground Zeroes gameplay then, but there’s always the chance this is a phantom listing and isn’t actually happening. Or people will get their and it’s a presentation for Metal Gear Solid V, or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, or Kojima will release a live fox onto the audience just because he can.

Whatever the case, we’ll be sure to let you know of anything interesting that comes out of GDC regarding Metal Gear Solid.
