The Catch-Up: September 26th, 2013 – Taco Bell PS4 Promo on Now, Minecraft on PS3/PS4 has the Same Underlying Game Code on all Consoles

General News

  • Minecraft on PS3 and PS4 (possibly Vita as well) is built on the same underlying game code for all consoles and it will be at least Xbox 360’s Title Update 13 equivalent. Minecraft launches with the PS4 this November. [Twitter]
  • EA may have 6 – 8 IPs in development, but as Frank Gibeau tells it, “They might not all make it to market. The trick is to get the right talent together to create a team that can really go after it. That’s where you spend most of your time.” So, don’t count your IPs before they hatch. [Source]
  • The PS4’s release date in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is December 13th at AED 1,699 with 33 launch titles available. No word on dates for Egypt or Saudi Arabia though. [Twitter 1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Rod Fergusson, Former Gears of War Producer and Executive Vice President of Irrational Games, has announced, “It’s official: I’m launching a new studio for 2K in the Bay Area with an exciting new project! Details soon!” [Via/Twitter]
