Killzone: Mercenary Patch 1.02 Full Notes Revealed, Requires 1190MB of Free Space

That Killzone: Mercenary news we were promised this week has turned out to be the release of the second big patch for the game, 1.02, which required 1190MB of free space to download and install.

Over on the Killzone blog, Guerrilla Games addressed the big patch size:

You’ll see that the patch size is similar to that of the previous patch and you will need a spare 1190MB in order to download it. When this new patch installs, the first patch will essentially be deleted, but you will need the extra space initially. This download is necessary in order to pave the way for future planned revisions to the game.

We are currently investigating solutions to reduce the overall size of the title and free up more of your valuable memory card space. We hope to be able to share more news on that work very soon.

Getting to the actual patch changes, Guerrilla Games wanted to target connectivity issues with Killzone: Mercenary, with this patch hopefully fixing those problems. In addition, they’ve imroved the respawn points in all game modes to better balance the multiplayer, fixed issues with loadout slots not being unlocked, and fixed issues with the melee medal.

They also note that, “Our previous workaround information regarding connectivity is now redundant and it’s recommended that any steps you may have followed in order to connect should now be reverted.”

For an easy to read version of the fixes, here’s the patch notes:

  • Connectivity improvements
  • Network traffic optimizations
  • Revision to multiplayer spawn system
  • Fix for failed loadout unlock
  • Fix for failed melee medal rank up
  • Stability fixes

For any issues you may still be experiencing, feel free to let Guerrilla Games know in a new poll and on the PlayStation forums.
