Game Informer Completed Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ Main Story in Less Than 2 Hours

When Game Informer unveiled their March 2014 cover earlier today, they said, “We had four hours of exclusive hands-on time with [Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes], which we used to play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes.” The wording led some people to believe that the main story was under 4 hours long, but we interpreted it that they were only given 4 hours of playtime before they had to stop, so we didn’t report on it.

Well, Kotaku has seen the March 2014 issue of Game Informer, and according to the story inside, the Game Informer writer beat Ground Zeroes’ main story mission in under 2 hours:

Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short. We completed it in just less than two hours.

It’s important to note that the 2 hours doesn’t include any of the side missions or exclusive missions you get on either PlayStation or Xbox, so the overall playtime will be extended through those.

Considering the budget price of Ground Zeroes and the very short list of Trophies, a short playtime for the game was expected, but two hours does seem on the low side.

Has the fact that Game Informer beat just the main campaign in less than 2 hours swayed you from buying Ground Zeroes when it releases this March? Let us know in the comments below.
