PS Vita Firmware Update 3.12 to Improve System Stability During Some Features (Update 2: Here’s How to Update Your PS Vita)

Update 2: If you were unable to install firmware 3.10, follow these steps to download 3.12:

  1. Turn off the system
  2. Remove the memory card, and restart the PS Vita (with no memory card inside)
  3. Download and install system software update 3.12
  4. Insert the memory card to the PS Vita system

Update: Firmware update 3.12 is available now on PlayStation Vita, with the one official update note reading:

System software stability during use of some features has been improved.

Original Story: Firmware update 3.10 may have just been released for the PlayStation Vita, but PlayStation has wasted no time prepping update 3.12.

In the official tweet about 3.12 last night, PlayStation said, “Heads-up – PS Vita 3.12 system update launching soon, improves system stability during use of some features.”

While neither the US nor UK PlayStation sites are helpful in explaining further benefits of 3.12, there was a widespread issue of update 3.10 causing major issues for PS Vitas that were using 32GB memory cards, so this could be a fix for that. Or it could be a fix for some other issues PlayStation discovered and needed to rush an update out for. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when the update is released to everyone.
