Your wait for online co-op in Killzone: Shadow Fall is nearly over, as Guerrilla Games has announced that the Intercept Pack will be released in June 2014 in North America and Europe, complete with that online co-op and four arena maps inspired by locations from the single player campaign.

Free to Killzone: Shadow Fall Season Pass holders (price for everyone else not revealed), the Intercept Pack adds four-player online co-op, placing you on the VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Your mission is to intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters by establishing a Hacking Uplink and transmitting the data.

As this is co-op, teamwork is key, with your Team Score being increased by defending your Uplinks from Helghast capture attempts, or by “banking” the Personal Score you’ve accumulated from kills, ability uses, and recaptures. In turn, you can earn bonuses such as artillery strikes and jetpacks. However, if you lose an Uplink or have to respawn, your Team Score will incur a penalty. Then, if your Team Score is too low and no one is able to respawn, the mission is failed.

Here’s a look at the different team members:

Guerrilla Games confirmed that enemies in online co-op will switch up their tactics after capturing an Uplink, while they also have the ability to call in “Helghast champions” with unique abilities.

A standalone version of online co-op is set to release some time later this year.
