Japanese Sales Chart: Mario Kart 8 Debuts Big, Wii U Gets a Boost

With Mario Kart 8 launching for the Wii U last week in Japan, it’s not surprising to hear that it was far-and-away the #1 game with over 325,000 copies sold, and it also helped the Wii U to be the #1 console at over 19,000.

Aside from the new releases of Mobile Suit Gundam Side Stories on PS3 and Chou Megami Shinkou Noire Gekishin Black Heart on PS Vita, there wasn’t too much to be excited about on the software side, with inFamous: Second Son moving just over 8,600 and bringing its total so far to over 43,000.

Here’s how each system sold, along with the top 20 selling games in Japan between May 26th and June 1st, 2014, according to Media Create:
