Troy Baker: “Nothing on the Horizon” for The Last of Us Sequel

So far in 2014, Naughty Dog has said they’ve brainstormed ideas for a sequel to The Last of Us, there’s a 50/50 chance The Last of Us 2 will happen, and they have another project “on the scale of Uncharted” in development right now. As well, Joel’s voice actor Troy Baker mentioned that he’d definitely return if they make another game.

Interviewed earlier today by Videogamer as part of a promo tour for The Last of Us Remastered, Baker said, “If we [Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, Ellie’s voice actor] are fortunate for them to ask us back, I gladly would.”

As for a potential sequel, Baker revealed “there’s nothing on the horizon right now,” adding:

It’s to the credit of Neil and Bruce and everyone at Naughty Dog for creating a story and a world that is so rich and immersive that people want more of the story. That’s a really hard thing to accomplish.

To even make a game is a miracle. To have a game that can grow into something else, and not just in a franchise sense – they want to know more about the characters; they want to know more about the world; they have questions. That’s a truly remarkable thing.

The Last of Us Remastered will be released for the PlayStation 4 on July 29 in North America and July 30/31 in Europe.
