Cops Surround House of Bungie Executive After He Was “Swatted”

An unnamed Bungie executive was recently “swatted,” as authorities were told he “had an assault rifle and he had placed explosives in the yard and he was holding a family hostage.”

For those of you that don’t know, “swatting” is a disturbing sort of game that involves a person calling the police on another person, usually for having explosives or planning to commit an act of terror. A swat team then shows up at the accused person’s house, while the person that set up the “swatting” incident gets some laughs out of the whole situation. [Editor’s Note: Calling in false tips for the purpose of laughs is highly illegal. We don’t condone the act of swatting.]

In this case, cops surrounded the Bungie executive’s house, and even brought in a helicopter for good measure. The executive, who did nothing wrong, eventually came out of his house in a bathrobe, very confused as to what was happening. While police from the King County Sheriff’s office are not sure who made the call, they believe it was probably someone in the gaming business who “didn’t have a great experience with [the executive].”

What do you think of this harmful “swatting” game? Do you think it was a member of the gaming business that had the police show up at the exec’s house?
