Telltale’s Game of Thrones Timeline, Platforms & House Forrester Detailed

Confirming yesterday that it would span six episodes, Telltale Games offered up more details about their upcoming Game of Thrones series today.

Telling the story of House Forrester, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series sees you caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, where members of the household must do everything they can to to protect the house.

Based on the HBO Game of Thrones TV show, which is based on George R. R. Martin’s books, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series begins towards the end of Season 3, and will end right before the beginning of Season 5. Throughout the series, you’ll visit King’s Landing and The Wall, as well as unfamiliar locations such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.

Telltale talked about House Forrester and Ironrath:

House Forrester is a noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros. Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.

Ironrath sits on the edge of the largest ironwood forest in Westeros, which has proven to be a strategic advantage for the House. The trees are a valuable commodity; many of the best weapons, ships, and defensive structures include the use of ironwood. House Forrester controls the majority of the ironwood forests in the Wolfswood, much to the chagrin of their bitter rivals, House Whitehill.

While the Forresters haven’t appeared in the Game of Thrones TV show, they did appear in the book A Dance With Dragons.

Further information about the five playable characters was also revealed, with each of them either a direct family member or person in service of the House. Scatted across Westeros and Essos, each character is trying to save House Forrester, with their actions potentially affecting the rest of the House.

So far, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series is confirmed for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS, and PC/Mac, with “additional platforms” to be announced. Details about the premiere episode, Iron From Ice, are expected to arrive soon.

As a side-note, Telltale’s Tales From the Borderlands was recently rated by PEGI for PS4 and PS Vita.
