We all need sustenance while we game, so there’s got to be a traditional food and drink that everyone has for their gaming sessions. With that in mind, we raided the fridges and pantries of the PSLS staff to find out what they were ingesting during game time.

I don’t eat or drink anything while gaming, but I always celebrate ending a game with a cigarette, ice cream, and/or cake.

Whatever is on the menu for dinner is usually sitting on some kind of makeshift table in front of or to the side of me. I’m partial to the grilled cheese that D’yani makes for me. I traditionally multitask, writing while gaming, gaming while eating, and eating while writing. It’s a mad, mad, endless loop. I’ve been having a lot of clementines lately too.

I love to make open-face peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also enjoy wine as a beverage. But the on thing that is always by me during gaming? My water bottle. I couldn’t go more than half an hour or so without it.

I don’t really have a set diet for gaming, pizza is always an option, but the only staples I have are water, coffee, or beer.
Heath Hindman (@TheHeathHindman)
I prefer the delicious taste of Mountain Dew® and Doritos®.

I usually drink coffee while gaming, although I might also have a beer or two. I almost never eat food while gaming — it gets the control way too greasy and gross!

If it’s a weekend, sometimes I’ll have an adult beverage. My favorite beer is called Terrible. I tend to avoid eating while gaming, for the same reason that Mark mentioned. I can’t stand a greasy controller! It has to be food that I can simply pour into my food, without having to get my hands messy. Chips are ideal.
I don’t really eat while I play much, though my wife and I have taken to taking turns eating dinner while the other runs patrols in Destiny. I’m a little antsy drinking much while playing after “The Incident” where a 32oz cup of water ended up on/in my PS3 many years ago. Those were dark times.
Zarmena Khan (@Zarmena)
I think I’ve mentioned this before too, but I often drink (hot) tea while gaming. Very rarely, I’ll have a soda. But it’s mainly tea and biscuits.
