Sony Forgets to Renew Bloodborne & Kill Strain Trademarks in the US (Update)

Update:

As expected, Sony contacted the USPTO and all five of the trademark statuses now say, “Application revived and is awaiting further action.”

Original Story:

Likely due to another clerical error, Sony has abandoned the trademarks for Bloodborne, Kill Strain, Guns Up!, How Games Were Made to Sound, and No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either! in the United States, as of March 23.

Discovered by a user on NeoGAF, the reasoning for the trademarks being abandoned were explained by the USPTO:

Abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.

Just like when they forgot to renew The Last Guardian trademark, expect Sony to contact the USPTO shortly to revive the trademarks for these titles.

In other Kill Strain news, the new website offers up this description:

Kill Strain is a PS4 top-down, action shooter game with a momentum twist where three teams are pitted against each other. In 5v2v5 gameplay, two opposing human teams compete over resources with the ultimate goal of destroying either of their two enemy bases while fighting off a 3rd team of mutants who are fighting to infect and turn their enemies into mutated allies.

If Sony issues a comment on the abandonment of these trademarks, we’ll let you know.
