Mortal Kombat X Update Shortens Online Loading Times, NetherRealm Working on Further Online Improvements

During the Mortal Kombat X livestream yesterday, Creative Director Ed Boon said they would be releasing an update to “dramatically speed up the time” it takes to download the Living Towers, faction page, and leaderboards on PlayStation 4 “any day now.”

Well, that day has come, and Mortal Kombat X update 1.04 is now live on PlayStation 4. According to the singular patch note, it shortens “the time it takes to access online features.”

Meanwhile, if you’re having issues accessing Jason Voorhees today on PS4, NetherRealm Studios says, “Jason will be available later this afternoon. Sorry for the delay.”

There was also a major patch on PC today, with the details over here.

For the future of Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm is working on improving online performance, and Boon added that “there’s no way we consider ourselves content” with how well it plays right now.

He continued:

We are constantly working on the online, [that] back and forth. We’ve taken steps to improve on it. It’s certainly better than where we were at launch, but by no means do we feel like we’re at where we want or need to be.

One feature NetherRealm plans to introduce is the ability to search for a new online match if you and your opponent don’t have a good connection.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Mortal Kombat X are still scheduled to release this Summer.

How big of a download was today’s update for you?
