Sony Confirms 1TB PS4 Model, Launches Next Month in Europe (Update)

Update:

Responding to a Game Informer question about the 1TB PlayStation 4 in North America, a Sony representative said, “We have no plans to announce at this time.”

When Sony does have plans to announce something for North America, we’ll let you know.

Original Story:

In addition to the new, lighter PlayStation 4 model announced today, Sony confirmed that the 1TB PS4 model is releasing in “select Europe and PAL territories” beginning on July 15.

When Eurogamer reached out to Sony about the new 1TB PS4, the company confirmed that it “uses older, original PS4 architecture,” rather than the architecture of the new model announced today.

Sony didn’t give out a price for the 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition, instead only saying to “check with your local retailer.”

Here’s their description of the 1TB PS4:

Offering twice the storage of the existing PS4, you’ll be able to download more of the games you love to your PS4, extend your play with more great add-on content and save and share even more of your best gaming highlights.

There was no release date given for North America, but since it was revealed by the FCC previously, expect an announcement soon.
