Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta File Size Is 15GB, PS4 Tokens Go out at 12am PT on August 19

Detailing the maps and modes earlier this week for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta that runs from August 19 – 23 for PlayStation 4 owners, and August 26 – 30 for Xbox One/PC owners, Activision posted a new FAQ about the test today.

Receiving access to the beta by pre-ordering Black Ops 3 and getting an access code (redeem it here), Activision says PS4 owners will be emailed a beta token beginning at 12am PT on August 19, which allows you to download the beta client. If you pre-ordered through a digital retailer, you’re automatically entered into the beta and can download the client “immediately” after it opens.

It may take you some time before actually playing the beta though, as it’s a 15GB download:

To make the Beta a fun and valuable experience, we’ve packed it with a lot of content. Therefore, the file is approximately 15 GB and download times will vary based on location, server traffic, and connection speed.

There will also be periodic maintenance throughout the beta period, with updates set to be given out through Treyarch’s Twitter account.

Also, beta progress won’t carry over to the full game. “Our focus is making the final game the best and most stable experience it can be and we will be working on balancing and other fixes leading up to launch,” they said.

Additionally, a feedback survey will be available once the beta starts, the beta won’t include campaign or Zombies content, and the “availability of the Black Ops 3 beta will vary by territory.”

If you don’t yet have a beta code, we’ll be giving some away very soon. Stay tuned for details.
