When the Uncharted games first came out on PlayStation 3, they were some of the best looking games of that console generation. However, when footage of those games are compared to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which is set to hit PS4 on October 9, the don’t look nearly as impressive as they did a few years ago.
Thanks to the folks over at Digital Foundry, footage from the PS4 versions of the Uncharted games have been placed right next to footage from the original games, highlighting the major graphical improvements that the PS4 versions have gone through. The textures are much sharper, the render distances are much farther, shadows and effects look more realistic, and the games look like they run smoother.
At the same time, though, the Digital Foundry team did note that the PS4 versions are lacking motion blur, something that Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 had. It is unknown if this will be placed into The Nathan Drake Collection when it gets closer to being finished.
But, in the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the differences between the original Uncharted games and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
