Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Day One Update Live, Game Pre-Load Ready

If you’ve pre-ordered Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain through the PlayStation Store, it’s now available for pre-load on PlayStation 4, taking up 26.97GB. It should download in two parts, with the initial 4.56GB file letting you access the game when it unlocks at 12am PT on September 1, while the rest of it downloads in the background.

The PlayStation 3 version of The Phantom Pain is also reportedly up for pre-load, with the PS Store saying it’s an 11.8GB download.

There’s still time to pre-order MGSV, with either version including the following bonuses: pre-order theme, Windurger S333, Combat Special Revolver, Personal Ballistic Shield (Olive Drab), Cardboard Box (Rocky Terrain), and Fatigues (Black Ocelot).

As for the day one Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain update, it’s about 420MB on PS4 and 150MB on PS3. According to the Update History on PS4, here’s what’s included with patch 1.01:

  • Additional features and enhancements for FOB missions
  • Overall optimization and stability enhancements.

While you’ll be able to play the main portion of The Phantom Pain beginning tomorrow, Metal Gear Online won’t launch until October 6.
