Japanese Sales Chart: Super Mario Maker, Monster Hunter Diary Bump Metal Gear Solid V to 3rd

After a strong week for the PlayStation 4 thanks to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, things swung back in Nintendo’s favor, with Super Mario Maker debuting in 1st with 138,000 sold, followed by Monster Hunter Diary for 3DS in 2nd. Both titles helped the 3DS and Wii U become the top-selling systems of the week.

As for The Phantom Pain, it followed up its launch by moving nearly 43,000 copies on PS4, bringing its total so far to 336,000. The PS3 version, meanwhile, brought its total to 140,000 after selling 22,600 copies.

Here’s how each system sold, along with the top 20 selling retail games in Japan from September 7 – September 13, 2015, according to Media Create:
