The studio behind System Shock Enhanced Edition has revealed that it has acquired “full rights” to the franchise that inspired the BioShock series. Night Dive Studios’ CEO, Stephen Kick, said in an interview with Fast Company that he’s been working with the game’s original concept artist, Robert Waters, to reimagine his designs. We’ve also learned that the studio plans to release the remake on consoles as well, which will be a first for Night Dive.
In the same interview, Head of Business Development, Larry Kuperman, revealed that there have been discussions of a System Shock 3, but it’s going to take a lot to turn those conversations into reality. He said:
To really do another game in that series is going to take resources and time and commitment that we don’t have, and it’s really not our core business.
Things could change if a publisher shows interest, however.
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
