January 2016 PlayStation Plus Announcement Scheduled for Next Week

Update:

The January 2016 PlayStation Plus free games in North America and Europe have been revealed.

Original Story:

Unlike last year, Sony won’t be revealing the January 2016 PlayStation Plus free games lineup ahead of the usual time, with PlayStation Europe Blog Manager Fred Dutton revealing that the announcement likely won’t happen until December 30:

Things can change right up to the wire, so I’m reluctant to give a firm date. But at present, yes, the intent is to have the news for you mid-next week.

He was also asked on Twitter if the PS+ news would happen today, and he responded, “No, likely next week.”

After they’re announced, the January 2016 PS+ titles will go live in the PlayStation Store on Tuesday, January 5. Until then, be sure to grab the December 2015 PS+ games before they’re gone.

Also, with no new releases currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 29, Dutton confirmed there won’t be another PlayStation Store update this year. “Yes indeed, that’s it for 2015. Next Store update will be January 5,” he said.

If you live in North America, don’t forget to check out Week 4 of the Holiday Sale, which ends on January 5.
