In just a few short weeks, Jonathan Blowâs The Witness will finally see the light of day. Today, Blow revealed that theyâve just finished recording the last bit of the voice acting in the game, and announced the voice cast, too.
Hereâs what Blow had to say about The Witnessâ use of audio logs:
The Witness deliberately riffs on several traditional elements of game design, and one of those elements is the classic audio log, where you are wandering along and you find a recording that was placed there by someone before.
The Witness has recordings like this, but letâs just say they are done in a highly non-traditional way. When you first encounter them you wonât find much in the way of answers, but, if you keep looking, you will eventually be able to piece together whatâs going on.
Thatâs one hell of a cast, no? Also of note, according to Blow, donât expect a âtraditional game storyâ like in The Last of Us or The Order in The Witness. The story, again according to Blow, is âfairly subtleâ and happens âmost implicitly.â
As long as the gameplay holds up, I think players will be OK with The Witnessâ story not following the usual route as other games, no?
