Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Hits PS Vita Tomorrow, Includes Cross-Buy With PS4 & PS3

Already available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty is coming to PlayStation Vita tomorrow, January 19, in North America and Europe.

Featuring cross-buy with PS4 and PS3, the PS Vita version of New ‘n’ Tasty runs at native resolution and “offers all the same deep gameplay and amazing environments of the console versions.” Developer Oddworld Inhabitants adds that it’s a “refined, specially adapted version of the game that plays to the strengths of the mobile format, while still delivering that ‘AAA indie’ level of polish our fans have come to expect.”

Some of the changes with New ‘n’ Tasty on Vita include tweaking the analog dead zones, doubling up the shoulder buttons, making sure Abe goes exact where you want him to no matter what, the PS4 ‘old school’ control settings becoming the default (X hops you forward, left analog stick us used to walk), Gamespeak is on the d-pad (up for “Hello,” right for “Follow Me”), dropping an item is done by tapping the center of the front touch screen, the readability of certain items has been improved for the smaller screen, and the visual style is a little grittier, closer resembling the 1997 game.

Seen in the PS4 version, QuikSave and QuickLoad will be available on Vita. By tapping Select, you’ll QuikSave wherever you”re in the game, allowing you to come back at the same spot you left off. On top of this, you’ll find Vita leaderboards for speedrunning.

Since it includes cross-buy, if you grabbed New ‘n’ Tasty when it was a PlayStation Plus free title last year, the Vita version will be free to download for you. Otherwise, expect it to cost $19.99.

After releasing the Vita version tomorrow, Oddworld Inhabitants will focus on the Wii U version. Once that’s done, they’ll work on the Abe’s Exoddus remake.

As they explained on Twitter:

We’re still very much in the planning stages for Exoddus, but hope to have more news on that soon enough.

We have not announced any platforms, dates or otherwise for Exoddus, and have no current plans to do so.

Will you be playing New ‘n’ Tasty on PS Vita this week?
