PS4 Sales in the UK Last Week Were Reportedly Over 140,000, The Most Since Launch

Thanks to a number of Black Friday discounts, PlayStation 4 sales in the UK last week were around 142,000, according to Games Industry sources. They add that nearly 275,000 total consoles were sold during Black Friday week (a drop of 14% year-over-year), with the Xbox One moving roughly 92,000 units and the 3DS selling over 35,000 units.

As GfK Chart-Track notes, last week was “the biggest week for PS4 console hardware since launch, beating last year’s Black Friday.” According to MCV, PS4 sales at launch were over 250,000 in the UK.

In terms of software, roughly 1.93 million games were sold last week in the UK, up from 1.77 million sold during Black Friday 2015. FIFA 17 was the big winner, finishing first in the software chart and reportedly bringing its lifetime sales in the UK to over two million.

While Sony has yet to issue an official statement about their Black Friday performance, Ubisoft UK Events Specialist and Team Leader Sunny Sanghera said, “Over two million #PS4 consoles sold worldwide this week with a day remaining…. (That Watch Dogs 2 price promotion effect!).”

Microsoft, meanwhile, says that demand during this year’s Black Friday was “strong” for Xbox hardware, accessories, and games.
