Following a string of titles that included Cooking Mama and cult adventure title Psychonauts, Majesco Entertainment’s days of publishing are officially over following a merger with PolarityTE.
Polygon has the scoop, confirming that moving forward Majesco will now operate under the Polarity name. The new-look medical organization will be a “wholly-owned subsidiary” of Majesco, according to the report, despite the decision to drop the publisher’s name. News of the merger brings an end to a torrid few years for Majesco Entertainment, after it shouldered heavy losses from a declining casual games retail market.
The firm then attempted to change with the times, launching indie publishing label Midnight City in 2013. It published a handful of titles — most recently the console version of Gone Home — but beyond that, Majesco’s output has effectively dried up ever since demand for the Wii began to wane.
