Diego Maradona and Konami Reach Settlement in PES 2017 Legal Dispute

It looks like Argentinian soccer legend Diego Maradona and Konami have settled their differences as the two have come to an agreement in an out-of-court settlement in which Konami has agreed to pay Maradona an undisclosed sum to not only allow his appearance in PES 2017 but to also act as one of the game’s promoters, according to a report by El Eco.

This comes only a couple of months after Maradona announced on his Facebook page that he planned to take legal action against Pro Evolution Soccer developer Konami for using his likeness without his permission for the series’ latest installment. Konami responded to the issue seriously as Konami Digital Entertainment President Takayuki Kubo personally flew out to Argentina to resolve the dispute.

While most of the terms of the agreement have been kept under wraps, Maradona has said that he would use the part of the money he would receive from the deal with Konami to stir up the amateur football scene in Argentina and build soccer fields in the country.
