Former Playdead Founder Dino Patti Reveals Somerville, A New Game From His New Studio

Dino Patti, former CEO and co-founder of Playdead, has revealed a new game called “Somerville.” You can check out the trailer above.

After leaving Playdead, Patti opened a new independent game studio called “Jumpship,” teaming up with Chris Olsen, an animator and previsualization artist.

The studio’s philosophy is as follows:

Our philosophy is to break preconceived notions of what games can be by exploring the creative possibilities of the medium. We believe in games as a legitimate and positive endeavor; with potential not only as an entertainment medium, but as a tool to question the human condition. We strive to support our intent with an unwavering ethic in all facets of the process.

This unwillingness to take the path well-trodden, to aim for standards seemingly out of reach and meticulously handcraft every aspect is where the weight of value lies for us as a studio. It raises entertainment to something deeply personal.

As for the new game, Somerville, Olsen has been working on the concept for quite some time. In addition to the teaser, the following line is given: “IN NEON SKY OUR KIN ARE LOST, TILL FUTURE HAS RETURNED TO DUST.”

We’re still waiting for confirmation of PS4 support.

What do you make of Somerville? Hoping it comes to PlayStation?
