PS4 Update 4.72 Creeps Out, Can Be Downloaded Now (Update)

Update:

While Sony listed just system performance tweaks in the patch notes for PS4 update 4.72, it seems it does indeed do more than that! According to the official Final Fantasy XIV site, it fixes a rather big issue.

Regarding the issue where if the FINAL FANTASY XIV application is started up after the PlayStation®4 did not shut down properly (such as after a power outage), a version update of over 20GB in size occurs, Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a PlayStation®4 system update on Jul. 11, 2017.

We ask that PlayStation®4 users update their PlayStation®4 system software to the latest version.

If we spot more tweaks and fixes for other games, or for the UI, we’ll update this post.

Original Story:

While PlayStation 4 update 4.71 came out a few weeks ago, Sony has released another firmware revision to the PS4 just now. PS4 update 4.72 is now out and ready for download, and as one can expect from an unannounced firmware patch, it’s mostly stability fixes.

Clocking in at 300MB, the actual notes are:

Main features in version 4.72 update

  • This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.

You can download the file manually right here or just turn on your PS4, connect it to the ‘net, and you should be prompted with a download notification straight away.

For now, there doesn’t seem to be any new changes from this new PS4 update, but if there’s one, we’ll be sure to update the story.

Have you noticed any new changes to your console once you’ve applied this firmware update?
