Gears for Breakfast has announced that their 3D platformer A Hat in Time will be releasing October 5 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via their Kickstarter page. Also announced was that the title was going to support mods–including official mods from the developers themselves. The official mods add special headpieces to the game, that will give Hat Kid special abilities related to the indie game the hat is based off of. Very neat!
Here’s more information from Gears for Breakfast about modding:

They’ve also revealed two of their official mods. The first is called Lilac’s Headpiece, and is based off the main character of Freedom Planet 2. This item will give Hat Kid the Dragon Cyclone move to use in game. The second of the mods, pictured above, is Raz’s Psychic Helmet from Double Fine’s Psychonauts series. Gears for Breakfast did not reveal what power this helmet would grant Hat Kid, though.
A Hat in Time will release October 5 on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
