Epic Games Promises Changes to Fortnite Save the World Mode

Fortnite has been one of the many surprises in the gaming world this year. After launching a “Battle Royale” type of mode that quickly garnered millions of users, Epic Games has been (rightfully) supporting the mode as it grows. However, there is another mode in Fortnite, and players of it are wondering what Epic is planning to do to make it better. Today, they answered in a blog post that addresses the “Save the World” mode.

In the blog post, the studio acknowledges that many players felt the game was too dependent on random luck in terms of what players receive and how the stats work, so they’ll be fixing that to ease the feeling and increase the reward choice for players by adding an Event Currency Store that allows players to purchase event-specific items, and a Hero Rarity Evolution system, which lets players level up their heroes to better rarity levels.

The studio also announced some other changes coming to the UI and UX of the game to make it easier for players to understand how to navigate the menus, including the ability to access inventory from everywhere, a quest map, and a more organized way to sort things you’ve collected.

For more on what’s to come to the “Save the World” game mode, check out below, and head over to the Epic Games blog for a full rundown on what they’re fixing:

Event Currency Store –  You will be able to purchase event-specific items with event currency (like “Halloween Candy”) during some events. You can go to an event vendor and spend your “candy currency” on event items or event llamas. Coming in December

Hero Rarity Evolution – Our goal is to give you the ability to evolve heroes into greater rarities. This means you can take a grey, common hero and gradually level them up to an orange, legendary hero. (Finally!) Coming in December

Fortnite is available now.
