Director of Romancing SaGa 2 Says Western Release is Coming Next Month

According to Akitoshi Kawazu, the game designer behind the SaGa series, took to Twitter to announce that Romancing SaGa 2 will be making its Western release on the PlayStation Vita and “other game consoles” as early as next month. It’s a surprising development, but one that fans will no doubt be excited for.

No word yet on which other consoles Kawazu meant when he said it’d be coming elsewhere, but with just a week left to go in November, it’s highly likely we’ll be seeing more information on this sooner rather than later. Just recently, Romancing SaGa 2 released in English for the first time on mobile phones, hitting the Google Play store earlier this year.

For those unaware, Romancing SaGa 2 is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Square that launched way back in 1993, but has been remade for mobile devices and handheld consoles since then. For more on the game, make sure to check out below:

■No two players will experience the story in the same way■

The SaGa series is one of Square Enix’s most beloved. The first three titles were originally branded overseas under the “FINAL FANTASY LEGEND” moniker , and garnered critical acclaim for their complex yet compelling combat system.

Romancing SaGa 2 takes the varied gameplay of other entries in the series and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system whose story is as vast as the world in which it plays out. The player takes the role of a succession of emperors, painting the history of the world with each and every action.

Familiar series hallmarks such as formations and glimmers make a return in this unique title.

Romancing SaGa 2 has no current Western release on the PlayStation Vita, but we’ll make sure to update this as more information comes along.
