The latest episode of “Behind Mulaka” has been released by the team at Lienzo. The video series aims to helming players understand both the process of making a game like Mulaka and also the inspiration behind it. The first episode centered on shedding light on the history of Tarahumara, the culture at the center of the upcoming game, the second episode touched on the culture’s mythology and how it appears in the game, and now this episode – the final in the series – focuses on the importance of video games to promote and preserving ancient cultures.
The third and final chapter in the series explores the decision by Lienzo to create the game, with one of their concerns being the fact that Tarahumara culture would be lost among future generations without someone preserving it. According to the developers, Mulaka seeks to preserve customs and teachings that would otherwise fade into history and present them in a way that will resonate with future generations of all humans. The episode also delves into how the video game medium can be used as an important tool of cultural preservation and expression.
